Project Overview
Our team recently completed a successful concrete pour of a wind turbine base in Dunbar. This project involved delivering and pouring approximately 115m³ of high-quality concrete for the base of a new wind turbine.
Scope of Work
The task demanded precision, detailed planning, and seamless coordination to ensure the pour fully complied with both structural and environmental standards. Access to the site presented challenges, with narrow dirt roads adding complexity to the operation. Given the critical role of the foundation in the stability and longevity of the turbine, our priority was to deliver a robust, durable, and perfectly level base capable of supporting the turbine’s considerable height and load.
Excavation works reached a depth of 4 meters, with a Type 1 sub-base installed and rigorously compacted. Compaction testing confirmed the formation of a rigid, stable platform designed to provide long-term strength. The turbine ring was positioned with zero tolerance, ensuring exact compliance and precision alignment.
Outcome
The result was a clean, strong, and well-finished base that meets all engineering and sustainability criteria. We’re proud to support projects like this that contribute to Scotland’s growing renewable energy capacity.
Looking Ahead
This project reinforces our capability to handle specialist concrete works in diverse environments, and we look forward to supporting more renewable infrastructure developments across the UK.
